Julie Tay
Julie has more than 30 years of experience in consumer healthcare, medical device, and B2B2C business models across Asia. She has spent 20+ years launching and building high-growth, sustainable businesses across Asia-Pacific. Most recently as Senior Vice President and member of the Global Executive Management Committee in Align Technology. Julie built Align Technology, a global medical device business in Asia Pacific from the ground up, achieving growth of 15X, with a CAGR of 45% during her 9-year term. Under her leadership, she has grown China to become second largest market globally and has achieved leading market share in every single country. Align Asia has also been recognized as the fastest-growing region in the world.
Prior to Align, she held regional senior leadership roles as the Vice President of Asia at Bayer Healthcare (Diabetes Care), Regional Director with Johnson Diversey, and has spent 15 years with Johnson & Johnson Medical where she was instrumental in establishing the LifeScan franchise within Asia.
Julie served on the Board of Directors at APACMed from 2020-2022 and has acted as the Board Sponsor for APACMed’s Startup Committee. She is an ardent supporter of MedTech Innovator where she mentors various small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Julie is passionate about diversity and inclusion, specifically women's leadership. She has spoken at various forums on the importance of a growth mindset and female leadership. Julie is currently an independent member of the board of directors in Sonova Holdings AG and EBOS Group.
Julie holds an M.B.A. from Curtin University of Technology (Australia) and a B.A. from the National University of Singapore. She is also a career coach. Happily married with three children, she enjoys food, cooking, travelling, and nature walks outside of work.
